Default MS3 vs. Tqr v.2 (idle)

Hey guys, don't worry this isn't another "which cam is better" thread. I just wanted some opinions on how the MS3 sounds at idle compared to the Tqr v.2? I have listened to clips, and I have heard the Tqr. v.2 in person and I want something a little more lopey than that and I am considering the MS3. From what I can tell on soundclips, even though the MS3 would be on a 113 LSA and the Tqr v.2 is on a 112, the MS3 sounds nastier. Is this correct??

Is the MS3 just a little more nasty or quite a bit more than the Tqr. 2???

alot of that has to do with where your idle is set at, my car idled at 700rpm before the tune and when it idled (if it would, lol) it choped VERY hard, now after the tune they found that it idles best at 900rpm and it chops alot less, you can still hear the car has a large cam, but there is a big dif between the two. For instance, a TQR 2@750rpm might idle harder than a MS3@900rpm. But given the same circumstances the MS3 should chop more. But I sure hope you are not basing your cam choice on which one thumps moe.

No, thats not what I'm basing my decision on. I'm pretty much getting the MS3 for sure, but I wanna hear some lope. I've heard the TQR 2 in person so I was asking for a comparison because if that MS3 doesn't lope much harder, then I am going to get the MS3 specs ground on a "custom" 112 LSA instead of a 113.

Probably because I am retarded.... I knew the MS4 was a little bigger than the MS3, but I never compared their specs and realized until just now that they have the exact same powerband but the MS4 makes more power. Does anyone think the MS4 will be much worse than the MS3 as far as driveability????

well i got the MS3 and its actually not bad. i love sitting at redlights and watching mouths dropping. it gets alot of attention. i love my cam it put down 415rwhp and 374rwtq (cam only). but the MS4 sounds like its going to be a even bigger beast. im just worried b/c it has a lift of 649/609 which is crazy and its on a 111LSA.

Those are awesome numbers for your setup! Yeah, the big lift kinda worries me too. I know a guy kinda locally that is installing an MS4, so I will catch a ride with him to see how it acts. I will definately be getting a Magic Stick though!

Yeah, I am torn between the MS3 and the Torquer V.2 myself. I know I don't want the MS4...that's just too harsh for a daily driver. Damn, it's just a hard decision, because once I do the cam swap, I won't be changing to a different cam for a LONG time if at all. Sorry to hijack your thread man, I just can't decide!

Yeah, I know he has it, but I wasn't really looking at cams when we went out there so I the thought never crossed my mind until a few days ago.

Why's the MS4 too harsh????

IMO too many people over stress themselfs about the lift numbers. If the lift is still with inn the rated specs of the springs then whats the issue???

These are performance cars after all. Saying you won't go MS4 because of lift is like saying I won't drive at 110mph but 100mph is fine

TSP have stated repeatedly that the springs should be fine for 20,000 miles +- depending on use. Really doesn't seem like much of an issue in my opinion.

Have you given thought to the Torquer V.3?

231/234 .643/.598 111+1

I bought a cam package from TSP with the V3. They are supposed to ship the beginning of August.

It just seems that with that kind of lift, I would be replacing my springs way too often with a daily driver. But also, I am no cam master, so to be honest, I am just playing things by ear. The duration also kind of scares me. If I were to install the cam myself (MS4), I would be concerned with piston to valve clearance on stock heads?

I am also contemplating this very thing.
Is MS4 just too harsh because of LIFT on a DD car.

Its MS3 or MS4 for me. MS3 is proven and idle is ok with me for a DD.
MS4 seems to idle rougher and less spring life. Most tuners and builders I ask says that way too much LIFT for a 346ci car.

Lift is scaring alot of us away from the ms4 and being satisfied with the ms3.
Should we be scared?

I'm about to put an MS3 in my TA this weekend. I decided to go MS3 because i'll be daily driving my TA soon and didn't wanna go with MS4 for a DD.

MS3 on a 112 or 113 for me?
Would like the nastier idle and power earlier but higher lsa is better for nitrous right?
