Default ls6 heads on ebay......

I just scored these for $525.00, did I get a good deal on them?

Also does anyone know what head gasket I will need to bolt these up to a 98 block??

Seller does not clarify if they are LS2 or LS6 heads in the text of the bid. The seller switches back and forth by declaring the heads to be LS2 or LS6. LS6 have lightweight valves and $525 would be a good price as the valves are expensive. $525 for LS2 heads, regular valves, is high as a sponsor has these new for $435.00.

Shipping at $60.00 is high as well.

So are they LS2 or LS6? Like mentioned above the seller keeps going back and forth. I would just use the stock GM gaskets with a new bolt kit. Your going to need the center bolt valve covers also. Did you see this link?

My memory may be a little hazy, but I thought the lightweight valves we colored yellow or blue? Like I said, don't take my word for it.

FWIW, I bought the same set from a different seller about 6 months back.

From what i'm getting from the auction, they are LS2 heads. he's really not saying they are LS6 heads, just saying that they are the same casting and i think he's referring to them because more ppl probably know the LS6 as a great head.

Keep in mind these heads from eBay are fully assembled LS6 heads, with LS6 springs. Bolt on and go.

Gunnar had that $435 quote and another quote of $425 plus shipping for a stock 243 with valves only.

I paid less but if these fit your needs, then its a good deal. I would have went with the 243s from Patriot if I planned on P&P'g them or upgrading the springs for a larger cam.

My error then. I thought the LS2 heads with valvetrain were $425/435. It does read with valvetrain in some of the posts. To me, that woud indicate with springs as well.

LS2 springs are about $80-$100. Then $525.00 sounds reasonable.

Will the springs on the heads be capable of handeling a hotcam?

$385 are for bare heads-no valves, springs,etc

Hot Cam .525" lift, LS2 cam is .525" lift. You are good to go. GM Perf Parts dealers online specify the LS6 which the LS2 has replaced.

Yes, off the top of my head (which is filled with alcohol right now) I'm thinking these springs hold .550 or .560.

If you have any doubts, search for "ls6 springs" or "ls6 lift", I have no doubt you'll find your answer (after wading through the threads with ls6 cam specs).

Those are LS6/LS2 heads. The ways to tell are the D-Shaped ports, #243 on lower right, and the triangles along the base of the head which the picture shows. The Hot cam spec. is 219/228 and I/E lift is .525"/.525" on 112lsa slightly less lift than the LS6 cam, but more duration and narrower lobe separation angle. The stock LS6 cam is 204/218 .525"/.547" 117.5lsa
The LS2 and the LS6 share the same head.
The yellow springs are P/N 12565313 and are LS6 beehive, that are slightly less than a COMP 918 on specification.

They are ls2 heads, not Z06 LS6 heads. You can tell by the paint on the valves, that they are not the sodium filled valves. Patriot performance has them for $400.

LS6 and LS2 heads are exactly the same bare head #243 casting. I reused my sodium filled valves. The springs in the picture have alot of yellow paint. The yellow paint off my stock valvesprings were only in one area not the entire spring. The springs usually have a yellow, or blue stripe painted on. Blue is 01-LS6, Yellow is 02-04 LS6. Those springs in the picture look alot different.
