Im about to have a cam installed, im having the heads port and polished and with new retainers and keepers and dual spring valve springs, how bad of an idea would it be to run the stock lifters on this new cam the motor has 65 k on it, would you guys recomend new lifters as well also what kind should i go with, the cam is a crane cams 224/224 with a 551/551 lift.

I would do new lifters myself, because you have quite of few miles on them to start with and getting to them later is a royal PITA. Service manual actually recommends new lifters with a cam change. The OEM replacements should be fine depending on the springs and rockers you plan to use, unless you want to go with the Morel's, which are great lifters but big $$$. They are sweet though

SAVE YOUR MONEY...You can run those stock lifters with that cam..I went to a 233\233 .595\.595 112 cam with 87k on my lifters and have put another 29,000 miles on them and they are doing fine..I am getting ready to do another cam swap and I will replace the lifters this time...you can spend that money on a different mod..
