We have a killer Stg 1 head. It is based off a 241 casting and is $999 exchange. Here is a thread where it picked up a guy close to 50 RWHP and 60 RWTQ

This head is milled to 61 cc, and when dyno'd against an AFR 205 at 66cc, the Stg 1 actually made more power, of course it is a bigger port also at close to 225 cc. Here is the thread to it.

Let me know if we can be of service.

There's so many head choices out right now, it's not even funny. I'd think about what you want to do with the car in the future, and decide if an aftermarket casting is going to be of any benefit (thicker deck surface, better sealing , etc) then start looking at the options.
Youve got the popular ls6 stock valve options from patriot, PRC and livernois for well under a grand. I believe patriot is also offering their stage 2 LS6 style in your budget with larger aftermarket valves which should do a few HP better than the stock valved ls6 heads. All are great budget heads. Cant go wrong.
