Springs Question
Whats up everyone? I am getting ready to buy a TSP 233/239 cam and I had a question about springs. I know that this cam has low enough lift that I can use comp 918 springs, that isn't my question. I was wondering if I would notice a difference between using 918's vs. dual springs. Like would I notice if the motor reved faster (or drop RPM's faster after I rev)?? I wanna rev the car and have the RPM's drop really fast as opposed to when the motor is stock and it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R for the RPM's to drop back down. And I know that exhaust might have a part in that too, so for the record I do have pacesetter longtubes and true duals dumped.

I've often wondered what makes engine RPMs fall fast myself... probably low rotational weight. I certainly doubt the springs have a big impact as the energy stored in the springs simply oscillates between springs (i.e. when one is resisting the turn of the cam, another is supporting it). I'm guessing that big compression also may have an impact.

Those are good points that you have. Does anybody know for sure how some motors let the RPMs fall really fast after revving??

I pretty sure you can make it drop faster with some tuning tricks but I'm not sure how much difference it will make. The rotational weight is proly the biggest factor. Get the lightest flywheel you can find and it should drop off pretty quick.
