Default need help deciding DD cam

while my car is not a daily driver, i drive it 3-4 days out of the week and put around 150-175 miles on it per wek. im ready for a bigger cam now and need help deciding what i want. ive searched and i know theres tons of threads like this, i still cant get an idea for what i want.

im looking for something with a real nice lopey idle (112 LSA for sure), somethin that is very notciable but at the same time doesnt drive terrible in stop and go traffic and cruising and all that. im looking for around 380-400 rwhp with mods in sig plus mac mids and ory pipe. also want somethin that doesnt reduce my gas mileage much, maybe a couple mpg at the most. i dont race the car a whole lot so mainly im just looking for somethin thatll turn heads with the way it sounds, drive close to stock, but make good power for whenever i wanna get on it. thanks in advance.

You have your choice of LSA 112 or 114. I just ordered a 233/239 from TSP today. They are great to deal with, get a cam from them. Call them and tell them what you want and they will set you up.

look in to the tr 230-224

or that tsp 228r

for a dd try not to go over 230 on eather side

This isn't always true, it's all in the tuning. If you have a GOOD tuner you can make almost any cam a DD.

im really wanting to find a used cam, springs, rods, retainers, all that and not break $400. im pretty sure im not gonna buy anytihng new, just odnt have enough $ right now. but yea i was thinkin anything between the 224-230 range on a 112, just wanted a few to chime and and give specific cams that have been successful with what im looking for.

If you have the gears you can give up some low end. I would really go with that 228 cam from TSP. It'll make a good DD cam and give you plenty of power.

Take off this 18" Replica Rims.. throw on 16" salad shooters. Watch that dyno improve tons

Seriously though, I have a 224/228 on a 113, 580s lift. If I were to do it again I'd go for the 112 lsa but the cam has butt loads of power and it has stock manners.

The TR230/224 makes for a fine DD cam even in a heavy truck.

I'll probably be going with at Torquer v.2 (maybe v.3) on my DD. It's all in the tune. I want to keep/add low end torque so I think it is a good choice. I don't want to be spinning the motor to 7000rpm to make power with the stock rod bolts. I really don't feel like going though the trouble of pulling the pan right now to do rod bolts to stick in....say a MS3.

some people say its all in the tune. but they still have idling issues, and bucks, and surges and messes up even with the ac on!!! and half the damn big cams sound like $hit, at idle. dont get me wrong, it does sound mean as hell. but it sounds like you car is dying out.

Which can be fixed by proper tuning. I had all these same issues w/ my cam but not anymore after getting it tuned right.

I recently installed a custom grind comp cam 228/232 588/595 on a 110 lsa on a 01 C5 6 spd with exhaust, headers and 4:10's. It made 384/382 and has a nice lope to it. Here is a soundclip I made around July 4th.
