Default Building my LS1?

Got a couple of questions about building an LS1. I'm not new to the car world, just fairly new to the LS1 realm. I've got a 68 Camaro project in the garage, but after tearing it down have realized that I can't afford to build it an go to school at the same time. So I'm going to try to get a little more power out of my T/A. What would be the best(cheapest) way to squeeze some more power out w/out N20? Cam seem to dominate in most of the replys that I've read. Any suggestions. Bone stock 2000 LS1 w/ 6 speed. Suggestions on intakes or heads? I won't be able to afford aftermarket alum. heads or an LSX intake, but something more along the lines of a used LS6 parts. What kinda HP/TQ range will be needed to start breaking stock parts? I have to use this car as a main means of transportation for a while so I'll need it to be dependable. Exhaust? Any less expense alternatives with decent-good results? Programmers? Throttle bodies? etc. I know this some elementary style questions, but I'm just not sure what works with these motors. I understand BBC, but I haven't fooled around with these at all. Thanks in advance. Jason Hopson

Well this wont make anymore power but...will feel like you have a bunch more. I'd suggest 4.10 gears. From summit you can get a richmond gear set for like 265 bucks. And if you change your driving style can get about the same mileage with a whole lot more SOTP feeling.

I'm getting some after I get my new clutch and wheels, but then again I've got a big cam so its kind of a necessity to bring back a little more driveability...

You can use the search feature and find a million and a half threads about how to build up a motor, well, at least 17 or 18.

For starters:
-CNC LS6 heads from TSP, milled, thicker gasket-$1200ish after mill and gasket

-Patriot Dual spring kit, hardened pushrods, LS2 timing chain, LS6 oil pump-$500ish

-Custom ground cam in the 228ish range on LSk lobes Probably $300-$400

-LS6 intake manifold-found used on here for $300 give or take $50

-Full bolt ons: Ported TB, headers, catback, UD pulley, intake lid-depending on where you get them and what parts you get lets say $500 to $2000

-Gears (so much fun and stay away from the noisy Richmonds, AAM's are good) and TA rear end girdle- $600ish

Budget aside enough money to install the parts and get a tune. That can be anywhere from $500 if you know the guy to $3000 if you don't!
