Default Lifter Install ?

I am reinstalling my lifters and I was just curious if it matters what side (top/intake, bottom/exhaust) that little dimple/hole goes on. What is that little hole? Is it a lube hole for the lifter to get oil??? Thanks in advance

Oh and yes I searched. It might be nothing but I would rather ask a stupid question than to damage my motor.

I replaced one lifter in my 2000 last December and didn't pay any attention where I put the oil feed hole. No problems. If you look, the area below the hole has a relief that goes to the smaller diameter that goes all the way around the lifter.
