Opinions on combo...
Opinions on combo... OKay, i can get a iron block 6.0 (LQ4) long block for cheap. basically i was thinking i could port the heads, new piston rings, bearings, have crank turned, Arp rod bolts, maybe mill the heads a little, and put a good size cam in it with a 150 shot or so. Do you thing this would be a decent combo. The reason im considering it, but uses quite a bit of oil, and smoke pretty bad. This could be a cheap fix.
Set-up would be something like:
LQ4 short block with arp bolts, rings, bearing, but stock rotating assembly.
317 heads would be ported, maybe milled, i know it wil have low compression 9.4-9.5:1, (maybe a small amount of boost down the road).
A good sized cam MS3, MS4, TRex? (i havent really done any research on cams yet for this motor.
Im looking to get around 430+ RWHP with ported heads, 6.0l, underdrive pulley LS6 intake, ported TB, Mac midlength headers, LID, and i think thats about it. I would still drive it a LOT, so im kind of wanting decent driveability. Then i would like around 600rwhp on a bottle.
Tell me what you think. 6.0 Iron block, stock displacement, good sized cam, ported heads.... Im planning on having around $1500 or so in it.
