Default 243 head questions.

I have searched this but didn't come up with the answers that I was looking for.My questions is,
Has anybody really tested what the ported 243 heads are worth? Like take an ls6 that has the basic boltons plus a cam and then have the heads ported? Are ported 243s worth 20 to 30 hp over out of the box 243s? I know intake and exhaust and cam timming all play a roll in this but i was just wondering if anybody has tested this before.

Well, I plan in the next year to go with tsp ls6 heads that are cnc ported and they claim up to 50 ponies at the wheel.

Just from what I've seen, it is definitely possible to gain 20-30rwhp from ported 243s with a decent size cam(230s) because stock ls6 heads from about 250cfm and ported around 300cfm, the big cam will really wake up with that extra air. The key is to match the cam with the heads for the type of performance/drivability you want. I've seen 40+rwhp going from stock heads to ported.

Yes, Id say 30 HP is a pretty good estimate. I pulled 35 HP more than a set of stock LS6 heads same dyno same day.

410 on a stingy AWD dyno, through 4.10s, no UD pulley. For reference: Stock LS1s were doing 280. LS2's were 330. 5# blown LS1 only pulled 411.

The last swap I remember picked up 26rwhp going from stock LS6 heads to the PRC Stage 1 LS6 heads.
