Boring a 98 LS1 block
Well, I recently acquired a 98 corvette ls1 block and I want to bore it out. It seems the smallest piston/ring I can find is 3.903 bore. That seem to be to big for the maximum of .004 in that I have read on here. I have GM service information in front of me and it says stock cylinder bore diameter is 3.897-3.898 in. So that leaves me with a max bore of 3.901-3.902. That leaves me alitte short. So if I bored them all out to 3.903 would that be safe? I guess that is my question. That would be around .005-.006 in off the lining.

Yea thats what I thought, its just all the threads I have searched and read said max total of .004 on 97-98 blocks. So searching the interwebnet I could not find any pistons that size, the smallest were 3.903.
why do you want to bore it? unless it is damaged have it honed and stick with stock pistons and rings, otherwise you are just throwing money away on oversized pistons and stuff (unless you are going to NEED forged pistons)
