Hey
I have a 2000 Formula WS6, im just wondering if anyone knows whether or not long tube headers are legal in California...

yup, illegal. Anything that will move the position of the cats will be illegal. JBA and I think pacesetter and edelbrock make shorties that are legal. You can check the CARB site database www.arb.ca.gov i think it is.

i have a question...how is it that Cali has all these SICK cars and custom choppers and all that but headers are illegal???

theres a lot of things i dont get, biggest thing that i dont understand is how you can pass the sniffer but fail on visual does it really matter what i have done to the car as long as it passes the sniffer

i just saw something on some channel last night about california getting even strickter with the emissions crap.. i wonder what its gonna be , i already think its rediculous with the rules already made.

why dont you just do it anyways? tell them to lick on it.... i know i know if they even suspect something theyll check it out. im totally comfortable ruining the air for my children. i want to go fast NOW. natural selection will weed the ones that cant adapt anyways

do it anyway? Know what the fine is for emissions violations in Cali is? They don't fine you $10 and let you walk...

anyway, long tubes are illegal everywhere not just Cali, they just happen to be more strict than most places on checking for it.

you can get long tubes that are legal here in texas..just gotta put a catted Y on it and you should be fine, you're allowed to move the location from original. and no i dont have any idea what the fines are but thats why i said "i know i know if they even suspect something theyll check it out"

just to the original poster.... there's a difference between heads and headers

running LT's with thousands of other cars in cali and have no problems... **** did i mention i have heads and cam ...just like everyone else too
