Default Am I the first???

Today my car wouldn't start. I hook up HP Tuners and I'm getting all these CKP codes. Now I know something is up with my crank position sensor. I notice oil underneath the car. I check and it's coming from the starter area. I remove the starter and to my disgust, I see oil all over the sensor. I remove the bolt to the sensor and WTF!!! a chunk of the block were the bolt was just falls off. Now I have a half inch hole in my block followed by a crack all the way to the oil pan. Now tell me WTF happened

why would you do a 383, and why use a g5 cam? 408 costs the same as a 383 and a much more powerful cam costs the same as the g5 cam.

Pull the pan and see if anything broke off inside.

I had just changed the oil on Sat. No sign of shavings or anything wrong. The whole weekend it drove fine. Didn't drive it Mon. I get in the car today and no boom or screach. It just felt like it wasn't getting any fuel. Noticed the oil on the ground and well you know the rest. Teardown begins tommorrow. The reason I'm going with a 383 is I can basically use the setup I'm using now, and just replace the cam. I'm on a budget and don't have enough $$$$$ to spend on a new setup that a 408 requires. I don't think my current setup will compliment a 408 shortblock. I thought a 408 was the way to go, but I have a friend who has a 408 and it just wasn't the shortblock he had to change.

Minus the block. You are going to need a new one.

383 build is not same price as 408
it also doesn't require larger chamber heads, a 383 will do nicely with that G5X2, just get the DCR in the 8.5>8.7 range
A 383 can potentialy be more comfortable at higher revs.
