New Motor Installed, Tach Doesn't Work, and Motor won't Rev

You should get a real scanner tool like a TechII hooked up to it to see what's really going on or try and find someone with some tuning software around you. I think that's your best bet thus far. PredatorZ has a good point with testing pressure at the rail though.

Well, I checked the teeth on the reluctor wheel and they look good. BUT, I compared pics of my crank as I was building the engine to my stock shortblock and the teeth are off by about 20 degrees. I assume a crank relearn won't fix this, I can't even get the engine to rev so I can't do a relearn anyways. Is there a way to manually set the crank position with tuning software?

Do you have a damper with timing marks or an electronic digital timing light? With it running this could give you an idea of how far off your timing (reluctor on the crank) is if @ all. I have done no tuning so my advise here won't be very good but I would think you could advance the timing via tuning. This probably won't fix the tach tho. Good luck and glad to hear she's runnin anyway.

It kinda of sounds like what mine did. I couldnt rev past 2.5k but I uplugged my TPS sensor and threw it into limp mode and it revved all the way. Unplug the TPS sensor, throw it into limp. It if revs then its a PCM issue. My tuner told me whoever did my bench tune turned on ?boost management? whatever the hell that was. All of your codes are probably from you messing with the wiring. Unplugging a sensor will trip the code and wont reset until you either disconnect the batter or clear them through a scanner. Clear the codes and rescan it. I would also try unplugging your maf just to see what happens.

Ok, I took the motor back out and popped off the headers. I found that cylinders 1,3, and 6 had never fired. There was no soot AT ALL in the exhaust runners, and there was a heavy smell of gasoline. Cylinder 2 looks like it may have fired one or twice. The other four cylinders are covered heavily in soot. The motor has about 2-3 minutes of total run time so all the exhaust runners should be black from soot. None of the intake runners have any soot. These are just more signs of seriously messed up timing.

Well I got the crank out, and it appears the "professional" engine building shop installed the reluctor wheel on backwards, which is easy to do I guess. The teeth on one side are a mirror image of the teeth on the other side.

It's pretty damn sad how little you can depend on people anymore to know what they're doing. Honest mistakes aside, if this shop was anything close to knowing what they were doing with these cars, they would know that this mistake could have and should have been easily avoided. I'm sorry to hear about this crap as I've been following your trials and tribulations since you started havin troubles. This is an excellent example of why so many people, including myself, do their own work when they can. It's just a shame that not all of us have the time or energy to be engine builders, and when we rely on someone else who says they are, things like this end up happening. Good luck man.
