Default Cam with stock tuning

How many of you are running a mid 220's cam on stock tuning. Will this work or is tunning absolutly nessacary with any cam. I am looking at a 224/224 cam and not sure if it will run like crap without a tune. I know I won't get everything out of the cam without a tune but only have money for one thing right now. Thanks for your help

I'm running a TR224 cam. I would say based on my experience that you get about half the power without tuning while having some driveability issues (surging, the smell of gas with accompanying film on your rear bumper, etc.). In my opinion, the tune is a necessity.

I'm running the TR224 112LSA right now with no tune on my '98 Z28 M6. It idles perfect when it's warmed up and drive fine also. I will definitely be getting a good dyno tune when I some extra cash though. It's also not a daily driver. But for the time being it's fine. BTW, I can still spin the rear 335 pilot sports 1st-3rd

I ran a 222/226 114 for a long time with no tune. Ran pretty good. I didnt get a tune until the car would not hardly run with the 244/248...
