Default Suggetsions on lifters

Simply put I need new lifters. I have 116K miles on my Z28 and Ive got a taping noise. Im assuming its the lifters.
I dont have a cam nor am I getting one in the near future. Any suggetstions? (on what brand) Should I do more with my valve train or just the lifters?
Appreciate the help.

leave it alone untill you decide to cam it.

when you cam it, put heads on it also and replace the lifters at that time with stock replacements

Well, you could start with pulling your valve covers and inspecting what you can see first. I would check to make sure none of your rockers have barfed up their bearings to start. Next would be to look for a bent pushrod or a broken spring. Make sure all the locks are still on the springs too. Either way you are going to have to take the heads off to do anything regarding the lifters. If you are going to replace them I would go with the Comp Cams OE replacements.

Anyone with stock rockers should get the Comp OEM's. They're a pretty good design and have proven to handle dual springs applications quite well with stock lash settings (the stock rockers are non-adjustable). The Comp R's though were designed for minimal preload, maybe 1/8 turn past zero. I'm not sure, but even the Morels may be this way too.

Thanks guys. Ill look into the comp cam OEM replacements.
I dont want a cam or heads. I will rebuild the valvetrain in the stock heads then I will be done. Cause if I mess up my motor - I dont have the ca$h to replace it.

I've used Comp 850-16 for all my needs so far. They have been great.

LS7 lifters from GM parts direct are $125 to your door. if you are going to rebuild your valve train, use GM replacement lifters, LS6 or LS2 springs with 0 miles on them, hardend pushrods and just buy someones 241 heads that have really low miles or some new 243s. 241 heads go for like $150 bucks from a motor that has never been ran. there is no way you could have your heads rebuilt for that much
