Default How much am i going to gain any by switching to a TR224??

I'm looking to put a new cam in the TA the current cam is a XR265HR-14 which is 212/218 .522/.529 114 its a pretty small cam, dyno numbers were 353rwhp and 392rwtq. How much would i gain by switching to a TR224 224/224 .563/.563 112 the only reason the lobe would be 112 is there is a used cam i'm looking at i would rather have a 114 but oh well.

about 30 more hp, thats a very small cam you have in the 5.7, the 224 is going to help alot.

Definitely a good step up from that infant cam.

I saw that, i only have LS6 springs i don't know if they would be enough for a .575 lift would they? If i can get away with it i would have no problem buying it off you.

I figured it'd be a nice step up from the current cam, it was a quick thing i bought due to the stock cam having some issues..

LS6 springs are good for up to .550. I would get a set of comp .918s.

Unless they're the yellow LS6 springs, which I hear are good to .570" lift.

Thats a great cam. You'll make around 380ish RWHP. Get some 918's and your good to go.

But since you are going in, I suggest TSP 228R cam
228/228, .588/.588 112
Or the TR 227

I'm really not wanting to tear into the valve springs again before winter, i have the yellow springs also.

Bill- I was getting ready to message ya . Will the tune be good to stepup to a bigger cam? I didn't foget about ya either i still owe you $20 bucks haha just been busy working and trying to get my mustang running without blowing head gaskets

I wouldn't run LS6 on the TR 224 lobes. It is not only a matter of lifts but more of ramp agressiveness. The TR needs at least 918's.

Damn this isn't going to be as easy as i thought if i have to swap springs again.

How would NviouSS' cam do 226/226 .575/.575 114+4? Of course with different springs.

The tune sould work, it'll need tweaked for sure to get max performance and drivibility. Just make sure to run better springs and hardened pushrods.

do it right the first time put some valvesprings on like everyone advises usually two or three more duration more do offer huge gains but it will be more. the tighter the lsa the more tor. and midrange you will have. if you can stand the choppy idle

Off-topic, I know, but is no one else surprised by the torque number he put down with that little cam he's got in there now?

Although i didn't plan on valvesprings again i thought the LS6 spring would beable to handle a bigger cam when i installed them 6 months ago. Then again i didn't plan on going to a bigger cam either. I realize to do it right the first time i just want to make sure i'm doing it right the first......well second time . I just want to make some more power with the ol' LS1 see how much i can get outta the 104k mile motor before it craps out.

Gauge- It has a 3500 stall, i'm just posting the numbers from the dyno sheet. Not saying they are %100 right, i'm sure the torque is being skewed by the stall.
