Question Vote on a cam

Thinking about sticking a nice streetable cam under a set of TSP Terminators. There are 2 I'm highly considering. Listing specs not the names of them. Names don't matter that much. Just wondering what one the cam gurus would pick to stick into a street torque monster. Not trying to set dyno records or track records. Just wanting to be able to run good and still enjoy its driveability.

what is it that you don't like about your current cam? I'm about to install the exact same one on a 114 LSA

It's weak. I mean, it's a great first cam if your woman will be driving the car. I installed it 'cause my wife was supposed to drive the car some. She's decided not to, that it's all my baby. So I see no reason to leave it weaker than it needs to be. I feel with this little cam, I'm leaving a lot of potential power untapped.

So you like your current one better than the older one?

those are both pretty decent sized cams, what are you looking for in the new cam? Were do you want your power at?

I voted for the first one. It has more lift, therefore more area under the curve. This cam has more aggressive lobes, and will make more midrange power than the second one as it's cut on a narrower LSA.

I'd be happier with a 6k peak than with a 7k peak. I want some top end, as I want to be able to still win some races. But some down low is great since I'm on a stock bottom end with almost 80k miles, and don't wanna rev it to 7k to make power.

I'm kinda amazed. The top cam was spec'd by a guy who is a Patrick G style cam guy, while the bottom is the G5X2. Top one is just an X2 with more lift and less LSA.

I'm thinking the same thing. I wonder what heads that will fit under without problems. I keep thinking "Terminator. Terminator."

I'd stick with the cam that's in there.

I might. I plan to put some different heads on then go from there. The heads I have now are great, but are normal compression with larger runners than I want. These would be good nitrous heads, but I'm staying NA. Maybe with some Terminators I'll be happier with my current cam. But I doubt it!

If you can flycut, do it and bump up your compression. LSK lobes like (static) compression, and remember, the more static compression with that cam, the more dynamic compression, and the more dynamic compression, the more power under the curve. Closer to 11:1 compression with cam #1 will be wicked.

Man that sucks, you could have had a nasty setup the first time. so after setting up the car to fit her needs to she changes her mind...thats great.....make her pay for the extra labor.

No biggie. My mechanic works cheap enough that it was worth knowing what I don't want to run.

check out the Futral line, I want somwhat of the same goals as you and am looking at the F14 even thoughthe power really shows around 3500 on this cam as well as the Torquer2, you could always go with an F11/12 and those would get you the down low power with a lower peak RPM.

Yeah a local guy runs high 10's on the F14 on a small shot. But I like the high lift lines to make that extra power. I think it would be really cool to make good numbers on a custom grind cam like I have listed. I mean, it's sweet to have a one-off that nobody else will most likely have. But I might just stick to that X2. It's a proven power maker.

I really don't see a way that custom grind wouldn't make good power.

the custom grind cam will have far more mid range power, and will also make better power on the top end. however i would add 4-5* to both intake and exhaust duration with that lsa.

custom grind > g5x2

i voted cam 1. go big or go home
