Yes heads are worth the money. The best has to be decided again. There have been some new players in the game and they are showing come pretty nice results. AFR's are the general #1 consensus but there are ETP's, TFS, DART (when they're fixed), Edelbrocks head is a nice design as well. If you want to play wit the big boys your gonna spend $1900 and up. The Darts will be cheaper but right now they have an issue being resolved.

There's nothing wrong with taking your time to plan your mods so you have everything set up how you want it. Read and research....alot.

AFAIK dart heads stock have no issues. Aftermarket ported ones have had oil issues but thats not how they came from Dart.

You can get into a huge battle asking what heads are the best. IMHO, AFR had the LS1 market to start with for aftermarket heads, and to this day they have an excellent set of heads that has proven its performance time and time again. You really cant go wrong with AFR's.

You also have to look at your application as well. Runner size and cubic inches need to be looked at. AFR's were number 1 and are still amongst the best but there are other options out there now and I think a throw down is in order. I'll volunteer my car and time for the test. AFR,TFS, ETP can all send me their heads and I'll test them on my setup and report the results. No bullshit, straight up honest results. I'll send the heads back after the tests.

I'll use a 347 with 9" w/3.89's in a 6 speed.
