Default anyone know wtf this is in my pickup?

I noticed my oil pressure wasnt as high as before and actually was falling off alittle when I would make a pass. It wouldnt go too low but It would drop so I had my mechanic pull the pan and this is what he found.

Any guesses and I dont have any red silcone on this motor

thanks

Looks kind of like a piece of the rubber gm used in the gaskets.

when you did the cam install, did you put any rtv anywhere in the motor? I know alot of people do at the bottome of teh cam cover dor added sealing, maybe it's a piece from that?

Hopefully it's nothing major....

Is it silicone for sure? Looks like paper to me. Like someone put an oil additive in your oil, and the cap liner might've fallen in.

Looks like the orange silicone on the aluminum timing cover and waterpump gaskets for the 1999+ motors. Theres also a rubber hourglass gasket on the back of the cam retaining plate to connect the oil galleys. And theres orange threadlocker on the back of the flange of the crank bolt that might fall off, but a silicon gasket is my first guess. From the zise and radius of it, i think it most likely pulled off the front timing cover gasket and dropped into the pan.

The orange locktite from the crank bolt wouldn't get inside of the engine, but it could from the rocker bolts. The chance of either one happening seems pretty remote. Could it come from the cam plate gasket? Maybe, but unlikely it would come from the water pump as that is the coolant system not the oil gallery. Orange RTV? Could be, but the gaskets on these engines are so good it's not really needed. You are supposed to put a tiny amount of RTV on the edges of the front timing cover and on the oil pump spacer when you install a double row timing set, but the amount used is so small it doesn't seem likely that there would be that much excess left over to block the oil pickup screen. Guess you'll have to call Columbo.
