Default look at my wonderful cam

This was the cam that was pulled out of my motor this past Friday. Isn't it lovely. I had 2 dead lifters and a couple more were about ready to go.

The lifters were pitting. The lifters were the factory lifters. Tomorrow the oil is getting changed and I am goin to cut the filter open to see what that looks like.

Where did you get this cam??? There was some issues with Futral cams here, about 6 months ago, if I remember right... Looks like same problem...

I lost two sets of lifters to a futral cam. pitted the lifter up and spalled the cam surface too. I believe small tooling ridges penetrated the oil film and caused friction and wear on the lifter rollers.

In the end, Futral replaced the cam and made it right.

It's not from Futral. The cam was atleast 3 years old and the lifters had 84k on them. It was grounded by Comp but it wasn't an off the shelf cam.

last night I measured the lobes to see how much material is missing and .012" is missing off of both lobes. put that with the rocker arm ratio and that is just above .020" of lift. That doesn't seem like a lot of lift but going from something around .600 takes it down to .580.
