Default which cam - TR 224 or MTI Stealth 2 ???

TR 224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA
or
Mti Stealth 2 cam 224/220 .581/.581 116 lsa

going in an auto, will have FULL Bolt ons
looking for a good sleeper cam
i have a feeling the MTI will be less noticable but im concerned about the power differences

anyone have any expierence with them?
i know the TR224 pretty well and i know its a proven cam
however i dont know much about the MTI

I used that cam (StealthII) for 2 years in various combos. It is a good cam but requires higher compression to achieve full potential (because of the 116+0)
with heads and bolt ons I made 424rwhp/383rwtq in a A4 and trapped 11.3s/120mph.
Nice cam for sounding almost stock.

If you are going cam only the TR224 114+4 is a better choice.
or even Better 224/224, .581/.581 114+4 XE-R (Comp cam Lobes)

I just got a set of Patriot stage II heads, 64ccs. If I use a .041 head gasket will this give me enough compression to use this cam?

The 224/220 116+0 will net you a 8.23 DCR (aproximate)
The 224/224 114+4 will net a 8.63 DCR (aproximate)

So the 224/224, .581/.581 114+4 is still better.
BTW your SCR will be ~ 11.02:1

TSP can grind that cam in a jiffy. Just give them the specs above.

Will this give me a HP peak in the 6200 RPM range?

who makes the other 224 cam u mentioned?
is the only difference the slight difference in lift?

the plans will be the LT's cut out/SLP dual/dual LS6 (then 90/90 after a year or so) TSP ls6 heads, 100 shot all the other supporting bolt ons/mods
and yank 3600 stall + 3.73's
full suspension slicks skinnies etc etc

Any comp vendor can have ground for you.
Since you'll be shooting nitrous, consider this one.
224/228, .581/.588 114+4
Still in the same power range but more exhaust biased for juice.

Default Stealth2

I like the stealth2 cam. It has a broad power band and makes decent #'s up top. It has a very tame idle, almost like stock and has very good driveability. If I were to do it again I would go with the 224-228 just because it is better suited to my AFR heads. I do not regret the Stealth2, it is truely a Steathy cam that will suprize some people.

Will the TR224, with the higher DCR, run well on crappy California 91 octane gas?
Or would the Stealth 2 be a little better suited for 91?

Yeah it will be fine as long as your DCR doesn't go above 8.7 (8.5>8.6 OK)

What's the optimal amount to mill a set of brand new 243 castings to use with the Stealth 2 cam? I'm thinking .020 for about a 60cc chamber, 11:1 compression. Does that sound right? Is tuning required when bumping the compression that much? Thanks!!
