This may be a stupid question. I am investigating stroking a LS1 engine. Is it possible to use a crank from a 6 liter iron block motor and put it in a LS1 alum. block ?
Yes, the bore is the difference between the 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 and 6.2 L engines. All use a 3.662" stroke crank. All of the cranks are similar (stroke is the same and bearing journal diameters, etc. are the same). The counterweight design weights are changed for different rotating/reciprocating masses (bobweights) and the reluctor wheels will be either 24X or 58X depending on the engine and year of production.
