Do I have to flycut??

Default Do I have to flycut??

do you have to flycut the pistons if you are using stock 241 heads with the TREX or TRAK cam. I am trying to decide which cam to go with and I am trying to make a shopping list of things I need. Which springs are optimal for a cam this big? Will my stock lifters and rockers be ok?

No flycutting required it was a design requirement by Thunder Racing that they fit in a stock motor. Your lifters and rockers will be fine. The PRC dual springs or even better the Comp 921s would work.

He's right, it will fit. But that's not with the textbook .080 intake/ .100 exhaust clearance. But people do it all the time.....

Do you know where the clearance ends up or if anyone has had piston to valve clearance issues without flycutting?

I doubt there are any common problems. This camshaft was designed for cam-only setups and to work with a stock motor. The fit is close, but it clears.

Perhaps give Thunder a call?
