Also i'm pretty sure depending on how you "broke your car in" can have alot to do w/ the performance aspect. My car was an animal stock leaving me to believe it was broke in properly; i.e getting on it really hard out of the factory.

The ram air in the TA is slightly more functional. At high speed I bet it makes a few more ponies, but the variation car to car is greater than WS6 to SS I guarantee you.

The box on the WS6 sits up higher and the intake opening is larger. Ill just get a ram air kit and a lid with K&N.

I think you guys keep neglecting the obvious! The SS has a loudmouth on it...LOWER backpressure often means LESS torque!!! That is probably why the WS6 "felt" faster than the SS. Everything thinks adding high flow exhaust increases power...but if the rest of the motor is stock, you'll often LOSE tq and hp.

I put longtubes on my 1997 C5 and its slower now than it was with stock manifolds. I have new heads and cam on the way so I'll be better after that...but keep in mind that less backpressure isn't always a good thing.

This is not accurate. The stock exhaust is very restrictive from the factory. Adding a Loudmouth (one of the best flowing catbacks) to a stock LS1 will gain 7-12 rwhp. This is dyno proven and not speculation. You might not see this gain in the lower rpm's but they are definately present in the upper ones. This may be why it "felt" less responsive around town. But strap it to a dyno or run a 1/4 mile and you see the gains. The proof is in the dyno sheet and or time slip.
