Default Question about a cam

What if you were to get a custom ground cam the exact specs as the 2002 LS6 but with an LSA of 112. What would that do? If anything.

Default Re: Question about a cam

Decreasing the lobe separation does a couple of things.

1) Decreases the amount of piston to valve clearance.
2) Advances the intake lobe centerline.
3) Retards the exhaust lobe centerline.
4) Increases the amount of valve overlap in terms of both duration and area under the lift curve during the overlap cycle.
5) Not as emissions friendly.

I would think et would improve slightly because the power would be over a wider rpm range. Would also bring peak hp/torque down in rpm due to the advanced intake lobe centerline.

I like the numbers the 2002 LS6 cam has produced but I want a cam the lets everyone know that I have a cam. Would you recommend getting a custom ground cam or just going with a "premade" cam that one of the sponsers sell?
