Default 5.7l-vs-6.0l Cam Only

I cant take any more of this guttless 4.8!!!!!!! I have a 99 5.7l and a 02 6.0l, I can't decide which would be the best in my truck. Both engines are low mile warrenty jobs, they ran fine but had a little piston slap, but Im not worried. 1/2 the ls1 I hear rattle alittle!! I have a custom ground ISKY cam 218@.050 / .578 / 110 +2. Im after torque, I know the 6.0 has better heads but only 9.4:1 comp, 5.7 has more comp & is lighter. I need help I keep changing my mind dack and forth = no progress!!!

How much milling can be done without needing to change pushrods length or worry about PTV clearance and how much CR will it produce?

Is 0.040-0.060 head milling okay with say .605/.609" of lift?

even over the extra weight brought from the iron block?

i'm interested in this question. I'll be putting up a large post in the near future about my build options and a few questions, so this may take care of one of those questions before i post

What are the motors out of?? I'm assuming the 5.7 is an LS1, but is the 6.0 a truck motor or an LS2?? The LS2 is aluminum block, so I'm assuming the 6.0 you have is out of a truck.

If its an LS2 then go with that, but if its a truck motor, I'd stock with the LS1, since it has more power stock and it much lighter.

The 6.0l is out of a 2002 2500HD truck. I thought about porting the 5.7 heads and using them on the 6.0, but Im just wondering which will make more power 9.4:1 with more timing, or 10:1 with less timing

That issue is irrelevant because it doesn't apply.
each .006 is worth 0.1 point in SCR.
The LQ4 that you have has 72 cc heads, similar to LS6 but with bigger chambers.
Even if you run GM MLS gaskets, they are 0.050 crushed thickness.
If you would mill the 6.0 heads .035, you would be close or at LS1 compression.
Still can run stock length p-rods on .600 lift cam (7.400)

Iron block is 92 pnd heavier. That translates in .1 sec loss at track. But the trq and power obtainable quicly offsets this. I switched from LS1 to 370 cubes when my motor took a crap. I'm not sorry I did, numbers in sig with a 232/234 cam (considered smallish for size of motor)

generally you can take off 0.055" without having to mess how it lines up to the intake manifold.
