can i make my ls1 into a ls7

The LS1 block can be taken to 427, and I think 343. The LS2 is getting as high as 455 now I believe.
As for a turning your LS1 into an LS7, cant happen. The heads are too big for the bore of an LS1, period. Just throw on some LS6 parts and have fun. The new LSx motors are great, but the old one still hold water damn well. No need to feel outdated........yet.

You can throw a nice twin turbo or supercharger setup on there for less than a LS7 conversion would cost you. If you want good power for $2000, throw some ported PRC heads and a proven cam in there and you'll have an additional 70-100hp and 50-80ftlbs at the wheels.
Remember a nicely modded LS1/6 is going to be close to PEAK hp/tq of the stock LS7...except you're giving up some low end grunt.

actually the ls block can get up to 468 ci with the new head spacer. you change the sleeves and custom crank clearence along with a deck spacer that aliagns the new sleeves. some real cool stuff going on with the ls block. a 427ci is not worth it compared to a 408 ci because the smaller stroke the higher rpm can be reached.
