Heads info needed
Heads info needed I just picked up a set of 853 heads hand ported with stock valves and 918 springs. Im going to run these with a 224/224 .564 112 cam or a 224/228 .563 112 cam. I want to know how much to mill these heads to get me close to a 10:9:1 compression using new stock head gaskets? Also if i mill these to get this compression what length pushrods do i need? I havent bought the gaskets so im open to sugestions. thanks
what is your reason for using a stock sized head gasket? Using a thinner one from Cometic or whichever company you prefer will get you a better quench area and you'll have to cut the heads less which is good if you ever want to re sell them. Just my $.02

BTW, my 853 heads from a 99 had the notch...and guess what..they leaked when I used MLS gaskets on them.

I ended up putting 317 (6.0L) heads on mine and used the 6.0L MLS gasket. Works great, no complaints.

The earlier head gaskets should have different part numbers for right/left side. They are composite gaskets, as apposed to MLS ones, also.

Sounds like it's a kit. It should work, provided it's the composite gasket. Really easy to tell the difference.

older heads on my 02 trans am Help i recently got a set of 806 heads with a bunch of cnc work by slp got the flow numbers from them there pretty good anyways i put them on my car havent started it yet. im hearing the head gaskets are not compatable with older heads and its going to spew coolant is this true help. if it is what gaskets do i run
