Yes it is very possible since my friend and I just did it to my car while installing my 408. We took out the front suspension and steering rack, suspended the engine with a hoist, and dropped the k member. Then just lower the engine to the ground on a piece of carpet, and slide it out through the wheelwell. We had the car jacked up as high as we could get it with a floor jack and some blocks. It was very easy. The hardest part is making sure everything is disconnected.

well my old engine had 125,000 miles on it and was getting a little tired, and luckily at the same time my husband wanted to build a new turbo engine for his car so basically we had a brand new 30,000 mile engine to put into my car.

to answer the other question we kept the motor mounts off the 01 and threw the 98s away they were basically falling apart, but the others are still perfect.
