You did not take that out through the top did you? I thought the LT1/LS1 motors had to come out the bottom.

Since you have the 98 motor in front you, can you see if the tempature sending unit has the same type of plug as the 01? Apparently the 98's actually give you a degree, andd are better than the 99-02's. The 99-02's apparently were only a hot/cold sort of measurment. But I was wondering if the 98 had a differnet connector on it.

you can see in the shot where he says the motor coming out of the other car that it's coming out the bottom and is still attached to the subframe. Unless you remove(cut out) the core support it has to go out below. Another fine GM idea!!

well the engine is "in". all that is left is hooking up the wires, we still need to put the new fuel pump in, then hopefully it will start. everything was a direct bolt in except for the oil pressure and water temp sending units. i will post some pics in the morning but right now i am too tired the only problem so far is the steering rack is leaking where the steering rod goes on. we do not know why.

i took mine out the top, you just have to pull the accessories, the intake/fuel rail setup.

Just the sensor won't make it function any better than an idiot light if you have a '99+ LS1 car.

everything went very well tonight. we ended up switching out my power steering rack with the 01s. that actually went very smoothly thankfully. the engine is now fully installed and the wiring is all hooked up. tomorrow will be a full days worth, we have to pull the gas tank and install the new fuel pump. we still need to put in the driveline, hook up the exhaust, and several other misc. things. hopefully by tomorrow night i will be able to post that it is running!!!

This engine put down 501 rwhp & 569 rwtq through a 9" on a mustang dyno with a 100 shot. We never dyno'd it NA.

from what i know it isn't possible you have to get the front of the car up and over the engine, unless you have a really tall jack.

What is the reasoning for changing engines? if you don't mind me asking. Hopefully you haven't already said and i just missed it.
