Default Street Cam Selection

Well, I've done most of the typical bolt-ons and it's soon time for a cam. The age old question, what cam will give the most all around power for a daily driver? I do drive the car daily, so I want it to make sure it stays reliable and I def don't want to make the mistake of picking one thats too big or even too small. The car feels very torquie now, and I know I'll prob lose some low end torque, but I'd like to make sure I don't kill all my low end torque. My goal is to have an 11 second daily driver with this cam, bolt-ons, 9in or 12bolt, stock heads, and some needed susp/tires.

Right now I have two in mind:

1.Comp XE-R part#54-444-11 224 dur, .581/.592 lift, and 114 lobe sep
2.TSP Torquer V2 232/234 dur, .595/.598 lift, and 112 lobe sep

What do you think?
Thanks!

No reason not to make the 224/224 on a 112 the small cam choice rather than the 114. With 4.10s it will easily meet your goals of getting into 11s and be very docile even in stop & go traffic.

+1 again on the PatrickG Torque Cam, but it is 224/228 .637/.639 110LSA
That being said, I believe he has posted elsewhere about a 228/232 cam that would also be ground with 110LSA, but with some extra advance ground in to keep the DCR up.

Since your original post says stock heads, you'll want to choose a cam that maximizes DCR while using the stock SCR. The comp cam suggested would give you a DCR of 8.2:1 if installed at a 106* ICL. Not sure how they grind these, if there is advance ground in or not. 8.2:1 is about the best you can hope for without going with less intake duration, even tighter LSA, or less head gasket/milling.

the 055 or 056 cam would be a nice choice. maybe even the XXX cam. call and talk with joe vinci.

They don't have it advertised on their site, but they'll custom grind just about anything from what I understand.

i'm very pleased with mine. Patriot 232/230 580/580 110 LSA.... sounds mean as hell, and makes ALOT more torque down low than some of the others i've seen. i would suggest it to anyone.

Well, I've come to a conclusion- XER 228/232 .588/.595 110+4

It's a custom grind and everyone I've talked to about it have had only positive things to say about this cam. I'm hoping to acheive at least 400rwhp and 11s in the quarter.

If anybody else has this cam please let me know how you like it!
