I would do all motor with a 150 shot. With a 408 and all the goodies you should be some were close to 700rwhp on the bottle if its built well enough.

Let me put it this way:
Track: all motor + N2O cam + big shot
Street/track: all motor, street cam + small shot

i say build it with a regular cam also.most traditional cams are still able to handle 150 or even a 200 shot, especially on a 408.

Build something that can handle a 200 hit or so. Should beat most cars that you run into on the street, and should haul the mail on the track as well

I voted big chot!! I just did something similar. Went from a tr224 and a 100 shot to a 234/240 and setup for a 250-300 shot. 347 cu in but I see no reason to change the way I'd build the 408. Except for the cam of course. I dont see a reason to not build it to take a big shot.

I voted all motor, small shot. It's just nice to me to have more power when your not spraying and a 150 or 175 shot on a stout 408 will be a nice build.

LME explained it to me that n2o likes compression so there was no reason not to go with 11.0:1 with the rings setup for a 300 shot. I wanted an upper rpm range as well so I had them spec and grind me a cam as well.

how much power do you actually loose setting up the motor for spray, i thought it wasnt to much of a difference in a motor can and a grind meant for spray.

depending how much money ill have, i want to go with a forged shortblock over winter, and i plan on spraying at least a 200 shot, so ill have the rings gapped for spray and ill figure out what cam ill be going with

Depends on what ring gaps you are running. If they are insane, you will have blowby and decrease N/A power.

yes i understand that part, but he is referring to the cam, how much power can you actually lose by having the cam ground for juice than for just n/a power.

what do you consider a big shot, i want 200 shot next year and that doesnt seem to be on the large side imo.

from reading other posts, people say grind your cam for n/a, since thats how your car is going to be driven 98% of the time (if its a street car). i heard pretty much any cam is good for a healthy shot. i have read that you should really only get a spray cam if you around a 300 shot or more.

i guess it depends on what you mean by a big shot. im just stating what ive read on other posts, so i guess im just tryingto learn

Same difference. Big cam and a big shot with a forged stroker motor.

Go with the 408 or bigger and set it for 200 hit. Hell set it dual stage or progressive and you can dial it in for most conditions.
