So, what where the Cam specs of a 00 LS1 just for comparsion sake?</strong><hr></blockquote>

The 98-00s had a 202/210 .496 116LSA. I'd like to know how that smaller cam in the 'new' cars adds more power. Where I come from, less duration and less lift does not equal more power <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

the more power came for the better LS6 intake, and the removal of the EGR.

But since they took out the EGR, they need a cam that would be a little more enviro. friendly.

basically the put things on and took things off to make more HP, but put a ***** cam in so or cars wouldn't be taking out Z06s

I had done some researching on it too....

197/198 .482 116 LSA I believe....</strong><hr></blockquote>

As an FYI, I think you mean the Vortec 4800 V8 or 4.8L, NOT 4.3. The 4.3L is a V6 (or an early 80's non Vortec V8).

It came out of the 6L v8 engine. The RPO code LQ4. GM says that they added the new cam for more power. I think that they did it so that the car would be emissions friendly.
