????????
setup as in suspension and drive train?

it is the car with the most torque under the curve that wins

Post 67 tempest

sigh
lets put it this way you can have 2 n\a cars with the same set up and one makes less peak horse power than the other yet on the track it could blow the higher HP cars doors off. The rule is the highest average torque\horse power wins. On the track in general the n\a car leaves quicker and the turbo runs him down.

i would need to see some dyno numbers to see the power curve of a 500hp stroke and compare that to that of a 500 hp turbo
anyone want to dig some up in there respectful sections?

are we comparing v6 turbo vs n/a ls1 at the same power lvl?
what is it eveyone wants to compared? stock cube vs stock cube?
stroker vs stroker? or stock vs stroker?
I say if we compare, it has to be :

346 na vs 346 FI

Or

stroker na vs stroker FI

That way its fair in comparing apples to apples.

I agree with ya man

For me nothing like N/A 346ci putting down over 500rwhp cause it's not that easy to be obtained

I think it should be

Stroker NA vs 346 FI

The cost of the stroker is similar to the cost of most turbo set-ups...to have a comparison of apples to apples.

Most people decide they are going to make power one way or the other, either NA and eventually go stroker to make more or FI to make more. It is the ones that go stroker and then FI that make the #'s like 2000 tran Zam. I think you would be hard pressed to find a stroker FI car that only makes 500 RWHP.

500 is idling for a FI V8 . If you want to compare take a 11 :1 500rwhp NA engine ,run it , then add a FI kit of any sort to it plus some correct fuel of course . What we find is Na isn't **** .

We talking about dyno racing or real racing? I don't think there are as many fi cars on this site that need a parachute as you may think. I missed the bell. How about someone post track times of a 500rwhp n/a v.s. f/i. I have a feeling n/a would take that one.

semantics..... fun to argue huh...

NA 346 < FI 346 < 408 NA < FI 408 ...... and it goes on and on..

to answer the original posters questions... .most 500 RWHP cars produce equivelent torque... since horsepower is simply a figure of torque to begin with. Having that kind of power at 2k rpm all the way to redline in a NA engine is better then boosted power.... no boosted car has gobs of power at 2k rpm..... but who races from 2k?? answer is no one..... the point is an NA car does not require RPMs to make power...... no need to shift.... leave it in the wrong gear and the car will even pull in 5th or 6th.... where as an FI car just like a low powered 346 requires a change of gears.

This really is a dumb debate since all things are never equal... but if they where... weight, suspension, peak HP and Peak Tq numbers...... the NA car would win hands down.

Yet I assume that to be drivable the NA car would need to be a bigger cubed engine... rape the **** out of a 346 to get 500+ power and it is no longer very streetable.

cheers.
