Backfiring upon start up when engine is cold
My car does this sometimes. Mostly when the engine is cold. It doesn't do it excessively and it isn't very loud. (the cutout is always off)
Is this a bad thing? The car runs hard.
I have a hotcam,MAC/ORY,cutout,MAFT (20%/2%), Hpp3 power programing.
The Hpp3 PP gives the car some KR but, it doesn't pull timing. And it only happens when I try to accelerate in too high of a gear.
To sum it up: The car runs fine. I just wanna know about the backfire at startup.

Re: Backfiring upon start up when engine is cold
JC,
My car backfires on a cold start also. This started happening after I first got a cutout, then when I went to the GROT LT Header and ORY setup. I was told that it had something to do with the backpressure.

Re: Backfiring upon start up when engine is cold
Our comps run in closed (it could be open but you'll get the idea) loop mode until the car warms up because the O2's can't detect until their warm. The car will run rich just to protect itself....this is where the backfire comes in. By the way...you might not want to rev to hard when it's cold...
