2002 LS1 oil consumption
you've got it. My 2002 Z28 uses about 1 quart every 2,000 miles using Royal Purple 10w30. I changed to Royal Purple at 5,000 miles, and now have 15,000 miles on the car. Guess the new rings on the 02's didn't change much huh.

Re: 2002 LS1 oil consumption
I don't think the first batch of 2002 LS1's got the new rings or the new pistons like the '02 LS6's did. I do believe that it will be put into production sometime during the '02 run if it hasen't already. Although 1 quart per 2000 miles is right at what GM calls normal, assuming "normal driving habits" <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">

I found out why I dont see this problem.
I never get to 2000 miles.. I change early
at aroun 1500-1800 before the oil gets dark.
I run dino oil.

Re: 2002 LS1 oil consumption
I ran dino Castrol 10w-30 since new up to 5,800 miles, and now I'm running Royal Purple 10w-30. I don't have many miles on the RP, but it's yet to use any. My car didn't use a drop of oil w/ the Castrol. If it starts using any oil, then I'm gonna switch back to the Castrol and see what happens. I might do it anyways and just change it more frequently.
