Ticking from intake???

My friend has a 91 Z28 that seems to have a tick from what sounds like the intake. It is not an exhaust leak. What could cause this?

If it sounds like its coming from the top of the car its probably a bent pushrod or two...has be been over revving??

It could be a ignition misfire.

Does he happen to have headers? If so, it could be the AIR valves fluttering.
