Default Solid Roller Cam???

I was curious about these. Not sure exactly what they are. I have a few questions:

Who makes it?
What all does the conversion require?
How much is it?
Does it offer more power over the hydrolic?
Is it streetable?
And most importantly,
How much?

Solid costs about 1000 extra, and you might get a bit more power per drivability, with the downside of having to adjust rockers. They aren't really proven yet though. A good cam like the MMS 229v2 will make plenty of power for you.

Terry, you shouldn't be so blunt... Mechanical roller cams are more than proven at this point, be it in a BBC, SBC, LT1, LS1, what have you... Saying that added cost & maintenance involved can't be justified by everyone would be a more fair statement.

For the most part, a mechanical roller camshaft will not be a "drop-in" replacement for the hydraulic roller in the LS1.

Sorry Marty, I didn't even try to answer any of your questions... You would need to convert to an adjustable rocker arm of some sort (and make the clearance under the valvecovers for them) to adjust valve lash, solid roller lifters, appropriate valvesprings, and the camshaft itself. You can usually expect a decent power increase through the entire RPM range due to the more rapid/aggressive timing events associated with a mech. roller. Driveability is usually much better compared to a similar spec'd hydraulic roller cam...

In a nutshell, not something you want to just try on a whim...
