Damn GM valve springs
Went on the dyno today to see whats up.
I was pretty happy with the #'s, I gained 22rwhp and 18 torque from a lid and corsa catback. I finally got over 300 in my A4.
Besides that, I had a bunch of people telling me I have bad valve springs. This is where I need your help guys.
If I let this go for a while will this damage my car?
Should I go back to GM and have then replace them?
Or should I just buy better replacements? I was quoted about 600-650 to go with higher end valve springs, but I don't know much about this stuff.
Or I was even thinking while someone is ripping that apart, might as well throw an LS6 cam or something else very mild in there while I am doing the springs.
What do you guys think?

Cant find a better time to get a cam also. For what you are looking for i would look into the GM hot cam. It comes with the springs and retainers and the cam. Everything you need and more. And its like 400 bucks. SDPC --->
should have what you are looking for.
should have what you are looking for.

Re: Damn GM valve springs
I'm curious what their rationale was behind recommending a valvespring change. How many miles are on the car? Are you getting valve float?
Will it damage your car? Could, but it's hard to give a likelihood without their reason for a swap.
I don't necessarily care for the Hotcam. But it would be wise to match your springs to your aftermarket cam at the same time unless you want to swap them again down the road. I'd buy both and install both at the same time if funds permit.
$0.02

Re: Damn GM valve springs
I have a dyno sheets that reflect that supposedly, also I was told by an unbiased person as my car was finishing its 1st run that I have faulty valve springs.
My car has almost 8000 miles on it.
I also have the video of the dyno as well as the sheet if anyone wants to see it
Thats my plan also, if I am going to change the springs, why not go with a cam too, shouldn't be too much more to go a little deeper

Re: Damn GM valve springs
What should I say to the dealer?
I was on the dyno and at about 5000 rpms we heard noises that would indicate a faulty valve spring?
I don't think they condone dyno testing?

Re: Damn GM valve springs
Also someone mentioned valve fluid, don't know what that is either. When it comes to inside the engine, I am retarded
And the symptom was the sound it made, sort of a cracking sound at high rpms, also they showed me my dyno sheets and that shows it too

Valve fluid??? Yeah, its called engine oil. Post pics of your dyno sheet. It should show a very fast dip in hp at 5k or so rpm. Also, 5-600 bucks for valve springs??? GM LS6 springs are less than $100 and are more than adequate for the stock cam.
