can running untuned be harmful

I have been running the g5x3 untuned for about a month. I have heard it can hurt the rings (by running too rich) over time. Is this true? how long before it really wears them?

And the bearings. I was running rich and had an oil analysis done, things came back really crappy including bearing wear. I would get it tuned ASAP.
