junkass stock oil pumps!!
Well my second oil pump *almost* made it a year. It started having fits today. Usually runs just under 40 pounds at idle, about 35 after driving awhile. It'd been like that for about a year. Today it decided to drop down to 20 pounds for a few seconds at idle. I swear my eyes almost popped outta my head when I saw that. Tapped the throttle and it went back to normal.
Not gonna risk another failure though so I ordered the hi-flow ARE pump from Speed, Inc. just now. Hopefully this will be the LAST oil pump I ever need.

HOLY SH*T Jake! WTF is wrong with your car man, I think it's possessed by the devil!
TWO freaking oil pumps!?!? That's crazy!
Maybe I'll have him install a new pump in mine too when I get the cam done in the spring...
Sorry to hear about this Jake, your car has really had a hard time

F*ckin' A. Hopefully it'll last another week until the new one comes in I'm really surprised we haven't heard anything from GM on this bullshit. 2 oil pumps in under a year is UNACCEPTABLE! In retrospect, I should've just planted my right foot when the first one failed.
I would definitely recommend getting a pump when you do the cam next year. Everything's gonna be apart anyways so you might as well. I'm doing an ASP pulley at the same time.
The pump is $175, I think Tom said $250 for the installation.

Jake, do you think that the extra oil flow that this pump provides will increase oil consumption through the PCV?

Good question. Couldn't tell you. I guess it could. Maybe we'll hear something solid on the updated PCV system from GM pretty soon...

Re: junkass stock oil pumps!!
I was just sitting there idling. The pressure went from ~35psi to 20psi in about 2 seconds and stayed there. Blipped the throttle and it worked it's way back to 35. This is the same thing it was doing last winter before it failed. Lasted about 2 weeks from the first time it dropped. the engine's not making any weird noises though thank God.
