I have a similar problem, but mine's on cylinder #7. If I'm cruising between 2600-2900 rpm's I get 100's of misfires on #7. Under hard acceleration it doesn't. I've changed plugs, wires, the coil, fuel injectors, nothing seems to help.

The car isn't down on power, not sure what is going on <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

leaned mine out as far as i could (tuning is wrong for my new injectors) and that seemed to solve most of it

 

cylinder 8 still misfiring at 4500+ Misfires as many as 100 times on a one gear pull. Tried swapping plug...wire....and coil with another cylinder. Now what?

 

Other potential problems which could be causing a misfire:

-bad fuel injector (clogged)
-bent valve
-broken pushrod
-broken valvespring

Just some more ideas for you to check out.

hmm new 40lb injectors 1000 miles ago. Wouldnt a bent valve...spring etc cause a noise or more performance problems at 4000 rpms. It runs perfect till it does this. Once it quit misfiring at 5500 and cyls 3 and 4 started misfiring. I dont know what to check now. Injectors are easy enuff to pull put the plug shows pig rich after a few runs like this
