Went to PRI, here's a quick list of what's new for LS1s...
Hi everyone.
Just got back.
Here's a very quick list of what's new for LS1s:
-Bassani is making midlength headers, remind me of Macs, they had a set on display.
-SLP is coming out with a new catback. Details from SLP.
-Cola is coming out with LS1 crankshafts if there is interest. Look for prices in the $1800 range.
-Scat had a 4.000 stroke crankshaft on display, looks like they are stepping it up.
-NOS had a very interesting direct port style kit for sale, that basically mounted the nozzles into the injectors bungs, and you would in turn mount the injectors into the direct port nozzles. Very neat and I find it very interesting.
-Holley/Weiand intake manifold will hit the market in January. Look for prices in the $700-800 range. Possibley a polished version for sale for $1000. Nice piece, it's pretty heavy though.
-LPE had a Lightning style AM10 supercharger mounted on a C5 longblock. Not sure if this is going to be commercially released.
-Dynatech step headers look very very good. They had two sets on display. Look for a January release on those.
-GMS is supposed to release a MAF translator/adjuster that will include software, so you can adjust the MAF-T from inside the car and on the fly. I saw it demonstrated.
-ACCEL is releasing a 7.0 version of DFI. Look for the price to be similar to Speedpro/FAST but possibly be more reliable and have more features.
-MSD is not going to release hotter coils for us for at least another 6 months.
Also was nice to see Nick/Dave/Wade from ARE, James from TnT, guys from SLP, Lou Gigliotti and son, Pete Incaudo from CNC Cylinder Heads, Ed Wright, and countless others.
Can anyone think of a product release that I missed?

My mustang 5.0 intake (holley systemax) cost $500 so $800 for a product they wont sell nearly as much of sounds reasonable.
Sounds awesome....we need new mods!

I am VERY interested in those stepped headers. Maybe when I go all bore 393 or SS 427 in the next two years I will pick up a set of those with 3.5 inch collecters That will work nice with 3.5 inch dual spintech exhaust with X Pipe

Did the Bassani mention if they will offer them with cat's? Or an approx price?

Email Darryl Bassani at dabassani@bassani.com, but yes they will offer a cat and catless version. I didn't get any price info. FWIW, I looked at the welds on the inside of the ports and they will not need any modifications. Also Darryl Bassani is a very cool guy. Please mention that John from LS1Tech appreciates the time he took to take the headers down and show me all the details.
Okay, more on that nitrous kit. It's basically a removable direct port kit. You can run it wet, or you can run as a dry two stage! The lines were made of some sort of hi strength nylon, and the kit is rather discrete. It would also be very easy to change jets. Interested? Try emailing mattheld@holley.com and mention our site. Matt is the brother-in-law of Chad Cassetty who helped bigtime at the NFRA race.
As far as the Holly intake goes, the base is removable so those guys who are always looking for every bit of power (Nick @ ARE) will no doubt pick up one or two and reshape the runners.
And for sure, the Dynatech step headers are nice. The collectors are bad@*** looking.

Well, it's not really a performance item, but I saw Painless Wiring came out with a wiring harness to retrofit LS1's into other cars.

I thought "hotter" coils would not make a difference on our cars?

Phantom, the MAF-T for GMS is being designed by a guy named Ira who was at PRI showing me how it worked. They also have a very simple gear calibrator that's plug and play... Email Ira@camaroelectronics.com
Brad, try asking for Raul Negrete @ Cola. No email listed on his card.

I'll try calling him on Tuesday. Just to let him know about my interest and see what all he has to say. I still have a little bit before I need a crank. But the price puts it a lot closer to being in reach at the present time.
Thanks for the name!

I am VERY happy that Cola is going to come out with a crank for the LS1's. I was actually going to call this week and talk to them about anything they could do to offer one. Guess I still will if they are trying to see if they have a demand for them.

I saw a picture of that new NOS combined replacement fuel injector I think on one of the carmag pages - very well thought out; I'm surprised nobody has thought of it earlier. Blurs the distinction between wet shot and dry shot, but it looks like installation would be much easier and practically eliminates the fuel puddling hazard.
That's one mod I'd like to see!

For 800 bucks that Holley intake better be a whole lot better than a cool looking LS6 intake!
