What the max compression ran on an LS1?
I am trying to make a few final decisions. Thinking about making my motor a race gas only motor. But if I do this I will go all out and max out the compression for my combo.
I am trying to get a poll here about who has built an LS1 motor for race gas only and what has been the highest compression ratio ran in an LS1 with somewhat of a safety factor still involved?
For this to help any; knowing a little about the heads for some of the applications would help. I have heard of some motors in the LS1 having a compression ratio that the heads are unable to flow (fully ported). Is this true?
The intake manifold has been taken care of so I am not worried about how much the intake will flow. It will flow better than the heads so I am left to see what kind of room I have for the intake and exhaust ports of the heads (6.0L).
Just trying to get a little insight before I sit down with the builder and talk over the details more to make the final and best choice.

Make sure to remember that if you go too far with the compresion ratio you'll have to run leaded gas, because thats all that is usually available above 104 octane. The only reason I mention it is because the O2 sensors and leaded fuel don't go together very well.
