Default Eagle SIR Rods?

I got a quote on these for $289 but have done ZERO research on them. What's their story?

I havne't seen anything good or bad but I'm trying to help out a friend with his budget buildup for boost.

Its a chinese forged I-beam rod which is good to about 450-500 hp. They may be forged here now but they all use to be cheap 4130 chinese forged. I sold hundreds of them when I owned Fearless Fords and they hold up well. They helped to make some cheap stroker kits.

I wouldn't use them. I have known guys that did and they broke. As mentioned they are foreign made. But something else is the material is also foreign. That is, the material is not as good as USA specs on material. So the metal itself is ****! They are cheap and may be a little better than stock, but not worth changing out.

I would beg to differ - I think they are a very good product for the price. Sure, they aren't as strong as a set of oliver's - but then you are only paying 1/2 to 1/3rd the price. I wouldn't hesitate to use them up to the 500-550rwhp level. After that step up to a set of hbeams.

So looking at a 600rwhp or so blower motor (stock crank, 9:1 cr), would these be THAT much better than reusing the stock rods?

At 600rwhp I would be looking at an h-beam or a billet rod.

No *way* would I run stock rods at that power level.

A local shop quoted me that on them, along with a set of low cr Wiseco's for $499, does that sound too low?

You sure they were fully cognizant of the fact that it was for an LS1 application and not a normal SBC 6"/5.7" rod?
