Default If I was going to change cams...

anyway (I will be) and I wanted to take off the heads also, what other gaskets would I need. I know heads but... And would this be a big can of worms that I would be opening up?

Depends on how picky you are about reusing gaskets, really... A lot of the gaskets on our LS1's can be reused with no problems. You would need:

Head gaskets (since you said you are removing the heads.
Head bolts
Valve cover gaskets (I often reuse them at least once, but they seem to deform easily if they've been on for awhile)
Water pump gaskets (you can reuse the '99 and up ones)
Front timing cover gaskets (can be reused)

For some reason, that seems like it, but I feel I'm leaving something out... I wouldn't even worry about the intake gaskets, as they should be no problem to reuse.

Thanks for the website plug Visc, its actually http://ls1.fbody.com now tho.

Anyways, never seen anybody that had to get a new valve cover gasket...I've had my valve covers off between 10 and 15 times and I'm still on the stock gaskets.

To summarize, on a 2000 car the things that need to be replaced when swapping heads/cam:
- crank pulley bolt
- head gaskets
- head bolts

And *sometimes* you'll need:
- water pump gaskets (10% chance?)
- front seal (50% chance?)
- AIR gaskets (60% chance?)
