UPF oil filter part #...
Anyone know the GM part # off of the UPF-52 (long) and UPF-44 (short)??? ANy info would be greatly appreciated.... <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

I don't know the actual part numbers however the longer filter for the LS1 is the UPF58, not the UPF52. The UPF52 filter is the longer one for the Grand Prix and other 3.8 GM engines.
By the way, this filter is no longer being made by AC Delco, so when the current supply makes it's way through the chains, it's done.

Since the LS1 filter has a conventional vertical orientation, there is no need for an anti-drainback valve. Such a valve is generally designed for filters installed horizontally or upside-down to prevent oil from draining out after engine shutdown.

PF44 is the short one, I would only use this one, the other one seems too low hangs a tad below the pan.
And you can still get 5 1/2 to 6 qts in <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> Oh and WIX makes a filter, I do not have the part # on hand, got some at home and I will give it to you, WIX filters are carried by NAPA stores.
The WIX filter does have the ADB valve also. (Anti drip back valve) avoids dry starts.

I thought the PF-52 is used on the V-8s in the GM trucks????????????? HMMMMM, might be using the WRONG filter oops...
