Default how do you know if direct flo is sealed properly?

I think mine might not be on properly because I can get a finger nail in from the front and from the side. (the front meaning like it is too short and the side as in its a little higher so I can put in my finger nail. Is this normal? the clips went on perfectly and the tabs after like 30 minutes of fighting with them got on as well. let me know!

There should be no "fighting" to get the lid on. Are you sure everything is properly lined up? Once I place the rear hinges into their little plastic holders, the front clamps very easily. Did you mess with the gasket? I know I tried to "double up" the gasket because my lid would leak a little bit but that didn't work. It was too thick and would not clamp down.

What I do to check for leaks is to take my air compressor and blow air into the lid opening and place my hand around the lid. When there was a leak I was definitely able to find it. Someone else here should have another method of checking for leaks.

Start the engine and run a lit cigarette around the outside of the lid. If there is a leak the smoke will be drawn into the lid....

I beg to differ - the first time you install it, there should be a hell of a lot of fighting - fighting to get the rear tabs into their slots. Now, once you get them in there, then yes, the clips on the front should snap down without any excessive force or fighting. And after you get it on there once, then it is much easier to remove and reinstall the next time. <img src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" border="0" alt="[chug]" />
