Default Black Smoke during WOT?

I've been getting a black/grayish smoke during WOT...

any idea as to what this can be?

maybe a simple fuel system cleaner can take care of it??

thanks for any advice

It sounds like your car is running rich. Do have access to an Atap to check out what your O2's are at WOT? Also, Does it just puff smoke at the initial hit at WOT or does it do it the whole time your at WOT?

With the mods in your sig I'm not sure why it runs rich but these cars do crazy things sometimes. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

It seems to be just one quick puff of smoke, then it goes away

99% of the time, it is only under WOT from 1st to 2nd....

I wouldn't worry if it goes away. I think the computer adds a little extra fuel when you go WOT just for good measure. A little extra isn't going to hurt anything. Not enough and you've got problems.

You still might want to Atap it and see what your O2's look like though.

Maybe somebody else can come up with a better answer. I've just never seen this only happen on the shift. It usually happens on the initial hit of WOT.

Take it easy. <img src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" border="0" alt="[chug]" />
